The Specializing Master in Strategic Design. Building new businesses and strategies through design, is a 1st Level Specializing Master of Politecnico di Milano, designed and run by POLI.design in collaboration with MIP, the Politecnico di Milano Graduate School of Business.


The Specializing Master is completely in English.


 


The social demand for a new generation of products and services, coherent with current socio cultural transformations and their sustainable development, becomes an opportunity for companies that are able to operate in context of this new design mentality, this unique meeting of design and company strategy: strategic design.


The Specializing Master in Strategic Design is addressed to the international contexts and primes experts and consultants to cover a project and managerial role in the product- system innovation process: the integrated body of products, services and communication strategies that business and social actors conceive and develop to obtain a set of specific strategic results. 



Programma

The Specializing Master is structured in theory modules, project and laboratory modules. The path finishes with a curricular internship lasting 475 hours.

Design Modules
These modules explore different topics and draw upon several kind of expertise needed to work on open ended problems and take an active stance in problem formulation.

Management Modules 
A range of integrated modules that address the requirements of strategic management, enabling students to appraise the factors which impact on innovation and its development.

Intersection Modules
These modules explore different topics and draw upon several kind of expertise needed to work on open-ended problems and take an active stance in problem formulation.

Competenze

The Master in Strategic Design is aimed at young graduates that experienced a first job who wish to start or redirect their professional careers at the frontier between design, management and innovation. It is specifically oriented to young designers who wish to learn and appraise innovation management and business administration skills, and young professionals and managers interested in understanding the culture and work practices of how design determines business strategies.
Graduates from previous editions of the Master in Strategic Design have found employment in two main areas: as specialists in Marketing and Innovation (marketing directors, R&D managers, industrial designers, product/service and brand developers) and in Innovation Design Management (as design managers, design directors, project managers, product managers, retail managers, brand managers and Product Service System innovation consultants). Moreover different students launched their own design based new ventures.

Requisiti

Selection will be based on the assessment of a candidates skills, attitudes and experiences, as well as on their overall future objectives, expectations and aims. Elements that will be used for admission evaluation are:

In order to be admitted in the program, a candidate must have a Bachelor Degree in Industrial Design, Architecture, Applied Arts & Science and Engineering, or Arts & Science, or Commerce must have matured significant professional experiences

Certificato

At the end of the Master, participants that will have passed the program and the final exam, will receive the Degree in 1st Level Specializing Master in Strategic Design, Design of the Value Offering.
Following graduation, after notifying as stipulated by the Order of Territorial belonging and the subsequent feedback from the same, the participant will get a number of CFP equal to those established by Regulations, listed below as information purposes:
30 CFP per year (CNI)
15 CFP per year
